Steps 1 & 2:
Right click (or control click on a Mac) on the two links above to download the PDFs. Print out all the spider pieces and spider card on heavy paper, like card stock or construction paper.
If Adobe Acrobat Reader is installed on your computer, the file should open. If you don't have Acrobat Reader, you can download it here.
Step 3:
Make sure you have all the tools you will need for this project: All the spider's pieces and its card printed out on heavy paper; scissors; a ruler; paper clip or ballpoint pen that has run out of ink; glue (such as Elmer's glue); and something to decorate it, like crayons!
Step 4:
Color in your spider pieces and card before you cut them out, it's much easier to color them when they are flat! Don't forget the back!
Step 5:
Using a ruler and a paper clip or ballpoint pen that has run out of ink, press along the dotted lines to score the folds.
Step 6:
Cut out all of your pieces and card along the solid black lines.
Step 7:
Take your Spider's leg piece and fold the tabs back and forth.
Step 8:
Fold the leg sections down on both sides and unfold them.
Step 9:
Fold the leg piece in half, then return it to its original position.
Step 10:
Fold your Spider's body piece in half, then press it flat.
Step 11:
Apply a small amount of glue to the area marked "Glue here A".
Step 12:
Also apply a small amount of glue to the area marked "Glue here B".
Step 13:
Fold the legs on the leg piece down.
Line up the leg piece to the areas on the Spider's body where you've applied glue.
Press down firmly and allow the glue to dry.
Step 14:
Fold the Spider's card in half and open it again.
Step 15:
Apply a small amount of glue to the area on the card marked "Glue here C".
Step 16:
Place the legs and body piece (now glued together) face down.
Fold tab C up towards you and line it up with the area marked "Glue here C" on the card.
Step 17:
Press tab C down onto the glue and hold it firmly. Allow the glue to dry.
Step 18:
Apply a small amount of glue to the area on the card marked "Glue here D".

Step 19:
Fold tab D up towards you. Flip the Spider's body and legs back over, following the fold of tab C.
Press tab D to the area marked "Glue here D" on the card firmly. Allow the glue to dry.
Step 20:
Set the card aside.
Pick up the Spider's head piece and fold it in half.
Step 21:
Fold the head forward and backwards along the lower dotted line, then unfold.
Step 22:
Fold the head forward and backwards along the upper dotted line, then unfold.
Step 23:
Open up the head piece, then push the head in along the lower dotted lines. This turns the fold in the center of the head inside out.
Step 24:
Fold the piece in half all the way. The head is now turned inside-out.
Step 25:
Unfold the piece slightly.
Push the upper part of the head forward along the upper dotted lines.
This pushes the face forward, back to normal.
Step 26:
Fold the head piece in half all the way, creasing the folds well.
Step 27:
Unfold the head piece.
Fold tabs E and F away from you along the dotted lines.
Step 28:
Apply a small amount of glue to the card in the area marked "Glue Here E".
Step 29:
Flatten the head piece and place it face down. Fold Tab E up towards you and line it up with the area on the card marked "Glue here E".
Press Tab E down onto the glue area firmly. Allow the glue to dry.
Step 30:
Apply a small amount of glue to the area on the card marked "Glue here F".
Fold tab F up towards you.
Step 31:
Flip the head piece over, following the fold of Tab E.
Press tab F to the area marked "Glue here F" firmly and allow the glue to dry.
Step 32:
Fold the legs on the right side of the Spider down along their fold lines.
Step 33:
Fold the tabs of the legs (or the feet) up towards you along their fold lines.
Step 34:
Apply a small amount of glue to the card in the area marked "Glue Here G ".
Step 35:
Bend the leg with tab G down to line up with the area marked "Glue here G". Press it down firmly and allow the glue to dry.
Note that the tabs (or feet) are gluing to the card face down.
Step 36:
Apply a small amount of glue to the card in the area marked "Glue Here H".
Step 37:
Bend the leg with tab H down to line up with the area marked "Glue here H ". Press it down firmly and allow the glue to dry.
Step 38:
Apply a small amount of glue to the card in the area marked "Glue Here I".
Step 39:
Bend the leg with tab I down to line up with the area marked "Glue here I". Press it down firmly and allow the glue to dry.
Step 40:
Apply a small amount of glue to the card in the area marked "Glue Here J".
Step 41:
Bend the leg with tab J down to line up with the area marked "Glue here J". Press it down firmly and allow the glue to dry.
Step 42:
Repeat steps 32 through 41 on the other side, with tabs K, L, M and N.
Your spider is completed! It's now ready to climb up a water spout, or perhaps even frighten Little Miss Muffet!
