Autobots – roll out! Now you can make your very own Transformers pop-up of one of the heroic Autobot on Cybertron, the legendary Optimus Prime! All you need is 2 pieces of 11olb. cardstock or construction paper, a ruler, a large paper clip, a pair of scissors, some glue and something to color with, like markers or crayons.

First, click on the links below, download the files and print them out on your home printer using onto 2 pieces of white 110lb. cardstock or construction paper.

Using curved edge of a large paper clip along a ruler, trace all the dotted lines to create easy-to-fold lines.

DIY Pop-Up: Bouquet

For this DIY Pop-Up you will need:

  • Cardstock or heavy construction paper
  • Scissors
  • ruler
  • paper clip, or ballpoint pen that has run out of ink, or a knitting needle
  • crayons, colored pencils, markers

Steps 1 and 2:
Right Click (control-click on Mac) on the two links below to save the PDF templates to your computer. Be sure to choose “Save Link As” to select the PDF (not “Save Image As” which downloads the small thumbnail image). Print the PDF out at 100% size (no scaling) on a heavy paper, such as cardstock. Color all of your pieces with crayons or markers before scoring and cutting.  If Adobe Acrobat Reader is installed on your computer, the file should open. If you don’t have Acrobat Reader, you can download it here.

Step 3

Use a ruler or a straight edge and a paper clip to score all the black dotted lines.

Step 4

Next use scissors to cut out all the pieces along the black solid lines.

Step 5

Take Piece A and fold along the dotted line towards you. Unfold

Step 6

Next take Piece B and fold along the dotted line towards you. Unfold.

Step 7

Now fold the card piece in half along the dotted lines towards you. Unfold.

Step 8

Next put a small amound of glue on the “Glue A Here” shape.

Step 9

Take Piece A and line up the bottom with the “Glue A Here” shape. Make sure the left edge matches with the center dotted line of the card piece. Press firmly and let dry.

Step 10

Now put a small amount of glue on the “Glue B Here” shape.

Step 11

Take Piece B and slot it through the slot of Piece A.

Step 12

Take Piece B and line up the bottom with the “Glue B Here” shape. Make sure the right edge of the Piece B matches with the center dotted line of the card piece. Press firmly and let dry.  Now close the card and re-open. You now have a beautiful bouquet for a special someone!

Now line up the ‘Glue C Here’ tab with the BACK side of the basket piece.  Make sure the middle dotted lines line up together.  Press firmly and let dry.

Lift up the ‘Glue D Here’ tab and put a small amount of glue on the ‘Glue D Here’ tab.

Next line up the ‘Glue D Here’ tab with the BACK side of the basket piece.  Press firmly and let dry.

Turn the basket piece over to the FRONT side.  Put a small amount of glue on the ‘Glue E’ grey tab.

Next fold ‘Glue E’ tab down towards you.  Press firmly and let dry.

Put a small amount of glue on the ‘Glue F’ tab.

Fold ‘Glue F’ Tab towards you.  Press firmly and let dry.

Now take the card piece and put a small amount of glue on the ‘Glue G Here’ grey shape.

Take the basket piece and line up Tab G with the ‘Glue G Here’ grey shape.  Make sure the middle dotted lines line up together.  Press firmly and let dry.

Next use scissors to cut out all the pieces along the black solid lines. (Do not cut the ‘inner’ hearts just yet).

Now take the heart piece and fold it away from you along the center dotted line. Do not unfold.

Next take your scissors and cut along the solid black lines.

Now fold the second heart towards you and away from you.

Next fold the third heart towards you and away from you.

Next fold the bottom part of the heart piece along the dotted line (Tabs A and B) towards you and away from you.

Unfold the heart piece.

Now push the second heart away from you as you start to fold the entire heart piece. Fold the entire heart piece completely. Unfold.

Next fold the third heart towards you as you start to fold the entire heart piece. Fold the entire heart piece completely. Unfold.

Now fold Tabs A and B towards you as you start to fold the entire heart away from you. Fold completely and unfold.

Take the card piece and fold it towards you along the dotted line. Fold completely and unfold.

Next put a small amount of glue on the ‘Glue A Here’ grey shape.

Next take the heart piece and line Tab A with ‘Glue A Here’ grey shape. Make sure both center dotted lines line up. Press firmly and let dry.

Next put a small amount of glue on the ‘Glue B Here’ grey shape.

Step 18
Now line up Tab B with the ‘Glue B Here’ grey shape. Press firmly and let dry.

Next close the card completely and re-open it.

You’ve made your own Valentine’s pop up card!
